Ferrari Confirms: V12, V8, and V6 Engines Aren’t Going Anywhere Anytime Soon

Ferrari may be stepping into the world of electric vehicles with the upcoming Elettrica EV, but the Italian marque has assured fans that its legendary V-12, V-8, and V-6 engines will continue to roar for years to come.

During its recent annual investor day, Ferrari revealed that while it’s embracing the electric future, it’s not abandoning its heritage. The company confirmed that it will “continue to offer and innovate our V-6, V-8, and V-12 combustion engines, in line with new global regulations, focusing on increasing specific power output and ensuring compatibility with alternative fuels.”

Ferrari elettrica ev

That’s big news for purists who feared that Ferrari’s move toward electrification might spell the end of the brand’s iconic internal-combustion lineup. Knowing that the V-12 will remain part of Ferrari’s DNA is a relief to many enthusiasts who view it as the heart and soul of the brand.

Ferrari’s focus on alternative fuel compatibility also signals a long-term strategy to keep internal combustion engines relevant even in a greener future—potentially through synthetic or carbon-neutral fuels.

Looking ahead, Ferrari expects its powertrain mix by 2030 to be roughly 40% internal combustion engines (ICE), 40% hybrids, and 20% electric vehicles (EVs). Of course, this ratio may shift depending on the region—markets like China are expected to lean more toward EVs, while the U.S. might continue favoring gasoline-powered beasts.

Though Ferrari didn’t reveal which models will carry these engines forward, it did confirm plans to launch around four new cars every year from 2026 to 2030. That means fans can look forward to an exciting lineup featuring everything from cutting-edge electrics to the timeless symphony of twelve cylinders.

So, while Ferrari gears up for an electric revolution, its classic combustion engines are here to stay—evolving, adapting, and still delivering that unmistakable Ferrari thrill.
