Jaguar Type 00: A Glimpse Into the Future of Automotive Design

Jaguar has always been known for creating cars that blend art and engineering, and its latest concept—the Jaguar Type 00—pushes that philosophy further. Unveiled at Miami Art Week, the Type 00 is more than just a design study; it’s a bold signal of the brand’s future as it embraces electrification and modern luxury without losing touch with its heritage.

Jaguar type 00 future design vision

A Classic Legacy with a Modern Twist

The “Type” in Type 00 pays homage to Jaguar’s iconic E-Type, once described by Enzo Ferrari as “the most beautiful car in the world.” Like the E-Type and earlier C- and D-Type models, the Type 00 continues Jaguar’s tradition of creating cars that are equal parts performance machine and rolling artwork.

The two zeros carry symbolic meaning—one representing Jaguar’s commitment to zero tailpipe emissions as it shifts toward a fully electric lineup, and the other marking the beginning of a new design lineage. While the Type 00 itself won’t make it to production, its aesthetic cues and philosophy will shape the cars Jaguar puts on the road in the coming years.

Design That Defies Convention

Finished in a striking French Ultramarine blue, the Type 00 takes inspiration from Renaissance artists while embracing futuristic proportions. Its flowing silhouette feels like liquid in motion, breaking away from the typical boxy design of many EVs.

The long-nose design echoes Jaguar’s classic combustion-engine sports cars, while the fastback profile, panoramic glass roof, and dramatic full-width taillights give it a futuristic identity. Sitting on 23-inch patterned alloy wheels with a new Jaguar artist’s mark, the car is bold yet graceful, with butterfly doors adding to its dramatic presence.

A Cabin That Feels Like an Art Installation

Inside, Jaguar has taken a unique approach called “exuberant modernism,” balancing minimalism with rich materiality. Instead of the usual leather-and-plastic mix, the Type 00 uses travertine stone, brass, and wool-blend textiles to create a cabin that feels more like a gallery than a car interior.

  • Travertine center plinth – Acts as both a sculpture-like centerpiece and a reminder of timeless craftsmanship.
  • Brass spine – A 10.5-foot structural element running through the cabin, symbolizing permanence and strength.
  • Wool-blend textiles – Soft, sustainable materials that bring warmth and comfort.

Jaguar also introduces a new concept of totems, crafted from natural materials like brass, alabaster, and travertine. These totems can change the car’s interior ambiance—adjusting lighting, sound, visuals, and even scent to match the mood.

The Road Ahead for Jaguar

While the Type 00 itself will never be sold, it sets the stage for Jaguar’s upcoming all-electric lineup. The company has confirmed that its next-generation electric four-door GT will embody many of the principles showcased in the Type 00.

With this vision, Jaguar isn’t just designing cars—it’s shaping an entirely new era of automotive art, one that blends heritage, sustainability, and bold modernism. The Type 00 may be a concept, but it’s also a promise: the next Jaguar renaissance is just around the corner.
